Lucas Keenan
Owen Khan
Jarad Muff

Charlie Smith

Score: 5-3 (HT 3-1)

Wyke Goals: Charlie (3)

Brighouse got off to a good start and scored the first goal. Lucas battled hard up front having numerous near misses. Charlie soon found his feet and replied with a great goal. A strong Brighouse team were thwarted at the goal by Bailey's amazing saves. Matthew made some skilful runs up front and was always looking for an opportunity to score. A Brighouse corner was unfortunately deflected off Charlie's knee into the goal after a fierce battle around the net in defence by Owen, Sam and Charlie. The home side score again to lead 3-1 at the break.

Brighouse again scored the first goal of the second half. Charlie and Owen were powerful in defence making some tenacious runs and covering the net to successfully deny the strong Brighouse forwards. Charlie's work in the box was fantastic, scoring two amazing goals to celebrate his hat-trick. Ethan was as energetic as ever never failing to tackle the opponents and pushing hard in attack to feed both Nathan and Bailey for some great shots at goal. At the final whistle Wyke were denied a win.

Brighouse B v Wyke Wanderers B

Wyke B
Nathan Aylott
Matthew Brumfitt
Ethan Downey
Lucas Keenan
Owen Khan
Jarad Muff
Sam Preston
Charlie Smith

Score: 5-4 (HT 2-2)

Wyke Goals: Matthew (2), Lucas, Owen

Having grown in confidence after his near misses in the first game, Matthew scored a well-taken goal in the opening few minutes to give Wyke a deserved lead. Brighouse counter attacked scoring an equalizer, then a long ball up field put them in front. Matthew got Wyke back in the game after knocking the ball around a defender and finishing in style, celebrating with a beaming smile. Sam and Lucas defended well at the back with some fine tackling which was truly complimented by Owen who made some great saves in goal; furthermore, his strong kicks from goal certainly helped a fiercely attacking Wyke side as the teams paused for the break on level terms.

Brighouse got off to another quick start in the second half, scoring straight from a corner. After some excellent attacking play Wyke got a corner that was taken by Lucas and his fantastic shot went straight into the goal. Ethan then ran the full length of the field and was brought down near the penalty area. Owen’s powerful free kick was unstoppable as he placed it in to the top left hand corner to put Wyke in to the lead for the first time. Brighouse however got back in to the game and for a short while put the pressure on but Nathan rose to the challenge making some fine saves. Unfortunately, after a clearance from the Wyke defence, the ball rebounded off a Brighouse player and went in. Some good teamwork between Ethan and Matthew resulted in some wide shots at goal and despite Charlie and Sam’s amazing defensive display Brighouse went on to score the winner. Ethan again broke through the Brighouse defence late on but his shot at goal was regrettably deflected and Wyke narrowly lost out in a fantastic game.
