Ben Boocock
Lewis Evans
Daniel Gledhill
Jack Hewitt-Hill (captain)
Owen Khan
Charlie Smith
Zachary Walsh

Score: 2-2 (HT 1-1)

Wyke Goals: Owen, Zac.

First Half
A midfield battle saw only Lewis have a long-range effort on goal in the opening minutes and the visiting keeper saved it. The deadlock was broken midway through the half with some outstanding ball control by Owen, who cut out a clearance, made room and fired in to the bottom left hand corner of the net. Battyeford were soon level though as Danny struggled to hold a shot and the striker tapped in to an empty net. Zac had a half chance next but shot wide. A Wyke corner from Owen was met by Charlie whose shot was well saved. Charlie then fired at goal from a free kick but was marginally wide of the post. Wyke ended the half on top and Charlie ran in on goal but found the keeper in good form.

Second Half
The midfield battle continued and chances were hard to find. Ben took over from Danny in goal and Lewis started taking the goal kicks. Battyeford pushed forward and were rewarded when, for some reason, Ben took a goal kick instead of Lewis and the ball was thumped straight back over his head and in to the goal by a Battyeford player. Wyke came back and their never-say-die attitude brought an equaliser from the top draw. Owen swung over a high corner and an un-marked Zac on the penalty spot leaned in to the flight of the ball and bulleted a header in to the top of the net (move over Mr Crouch!). Ben made a fine save before Wyke tried hard for a winner but as Owen shot wide it proved to be the last chance of the match.

Summary
A good performance from Wyke and a fair result for both teams as midfielders dominated. Owen and Zac scored great goals. Danny tried his best in his first step up to the A team and Ben played a good cameo role. Connor and Lewis defended well and pushed forward when required. Charlie covered every blade of grass again and Jack fought hard in midfield.

MoM: Zac

Wyke Wanderers B v Battyeford C

Nathan Aylott (captain)
Ben Boocock
Matthew Brumfitt
Bailey Clarkson
Bailey Evans
Mason Evans
Jarad Muff

Score: 0-6 (HT 0-3)

Wyke Goals:

First Half
Wyke began brightly and Nathan had the first chance of the game but his shot was well saved. Battyeford were soon in front though when a goal kick from Jarad went straight to a visiting attacker who stroked the ball back in to an empty net. Wyke came back and a throw from Ben saw Bailey C have a half chance but his shot was saved again. Nathan then shot wide when one-on-one with the keeper before Jarad made a good diving save. Jarad was in action again soon after but couldn’t hold on to the ball and Battyeford scored their second from the follow up. Battyeford pushed forward and Jarad made a great double save to deny them another goal. Bailey C then released Nathan with a great chance but he shot wide again. Battyeford finished the half on the front foot and got a third just before half time.

Second Half
Ben took over from Jarad in goal and was soon in action making a good stop. Bailey C had a chance at the other end but fired wide. Jarad started the next move and when Matthew ran in to the penalty area the ball was cleared for a corner. Ben made another fine save before both teams ground it out in midfield for a few minutes. The next chance fell to Wyke when Matthew took a corner and Bailey E shot at the post and the ball ran to Bailey C who shot off balance in to the keeper’s arms. Just when Wyke looked like they could get back in to the match, Battyeford scored three quick un-answered goal’s in the last four minutes and if it wasn’t for some great saves from Ben it could have been a bigger winning margin as the Wyke defence fell apart.

Summary
A bit of a harsh score line as Wyke were still in the contest entering the final four minutes but were then blown apart. Jarad played well in goal and defence. Mason and Bailey E battled very well and ran their socks off. Bailey C was well marked and had minimal chances. Ben tackled well before making some great stops in goal. Matthew tried his best up front against a good visiting defence whilst Nathan struggled to get in to the game.

MoM: Jarad
