Wyke pulled a performance of the season out of the bag to
thrash Saville Town by a fantastic 5 goals. Wyke also earned a well needed
clean sheet, their first since May 2005 when they beat YMCA 2-0 at Under 10’s.

From the off, Wyke were much the brighter the team, and
within minutes they had an early lead with Connor Rhodes slotting in a loose
ball from a corner. Wyke led 1-0.

Wyke continued to attack throughout the first half, with
chances falling to Mikey, Jack and Connor. Wyke were making some wonderful
footballing moves, with fantastic link up play from Nathan and Scott in
Midfield.

At the other end of the pitch, Wyke were very settled in
defence, a total different performance from yesterdays. Tai commanded them very
well and both him and Joe Mac won everything in the air, and Saville could
hardly get the ball into Wyke’s half. Jake Gilderdale put in a couple of
crucial defensive interceptions to keep Wyke’s 1-0 lead. Joe Couble was also
called on the make a great save from a well struck free kick.

Half Time 1-0.

Wyke came out very brightly once again, and very early on
Wyke were creating chances, with Scott Morris putting in some great deliveries
on the left wing.

Nathan Khan was once again bossing the midfield, and
creating chances for Jack and Connor. Jack Lamch seemed a different player
today, he didn’t give up once, and continued to battle throughout the match.

Jack’s effort was rewarded with a goal early on with a well
struck shot from 15 yards which the keeper had no chance of saving.

Wyke’s constant pressure continued, and was only possible
because of a brilliant defensive performance. The defence were pushing up and
used the offside trap effectively. Any ball that came through was being dealt
with by the centre halfs, and Jake Gilderdale and Louis Muff were rocks at full
backs.

Scott Morris was proving to be a massive handful for the
Saville defence, with his mazing runs, however it was a well struck cross from
him which gave Wyke a third, and Jack Lamch a second, who ran in and converted
the cross in style.

Wyke’s fourth came from a corner, with Jack Lamch laying a
short one to Mikey Brooksbank on the edge of the area. Mikey showed what a
quality striker he is by smashing the ball in the top corner from 18 yards,
leaving the keeper with no chance.

Wyke were unlucky not to go further ahead, when a fantastic cross
from Connor Rhodes was met by Jack Lamch, keen on his hatrick. However Jack
could only put the ball into the keeper.

However a fifth was on its way, when Joe McLoughlin took the
opportunity from a loose ball, to bury the ball in the bottom corner.

A real team performance from Wyke today, and a fantastic
win.

Man of the Match x2

Jack Lamch: Jack was like a different player today, he
showed he is a really important member of the team, not just for his finishing
and set pieces. His effort today was brilliant, and we saw a bit of his
potential today which I’ve been looking forward to seeing since he was 7.

Tai Pedder: Tai put yesterday’s game behind him today and
put in a class performance, he bossed the defence, and was key to the offside
trap working. He also won plenty of balls in the air, and was fast back at
dealing with balls over the top. He earned the team a massive clean sheet
today.

Goals

Jack Lamch x2, Mikey Brooksbank, Connor Rhodes, Joe
McLoughlin.

What a team effort today, every player and every part of the
team worked their backsides off today..And me and Andy are very proud! We
worked hard all over the pitch and played clever football, especially when we
were attacking. Defensively we were faultless, the lads have really took on
board what was said yesterday, and we defended excellently. Fantastic, and also
our first clean sheet at 11-a-side!!! Get In!!!! Well done boys,, lets keep it
up!!
