Match Report- 08/11/09 v Pudsey Juniors (County Cup R2) Empty Match Report- 08/11/09 v Pudsey Juniors (County Cup R2)

Wyke put in another fantastic performance today..which now
sees them advance to round 3 of the County Cup. It is now their 2nd
win in a row, and it was an impressive performance against an in-form Pudsey
Juniors who had yet to be beaten this season.

The first half was a game of much action, but no goals. Wyke
started the game well, especially considering they were playing uphill.
Defensively they were faultless, Joe Mac and Tai Pedder were handling every
ball which came to them, and Joe Couble had an easy game.

At the other end of the pitch, Wyke created a few chances,
Quinn had an early chance saved, and Connor put a few wide. Connor also made
some fantastic balls over the top, giving Nathan and Scott opportunities to
score.

At half time the score remained at 0-0 but Wyke had had the
better chances, and were reasonably in control of the game.

Wyke came out the more positive side, and totally dominated
the first 10 minutes, and were very unlucky not to open the scoring.

Wyke’s keeper Joe Couble had to come to the team’s aid,
firstly coming out brilliantly and saving a one-on-one and then he made a
fantastic effort, tipping the ball over the bar from a long range effort.

The game was then turned on its head when Mateusz Ogrodnik
played a quality through ball to Connor Rhodes, who cooly put the ball past the
keeper to give Wyke the lead.

Within minutes Connor and Mateusz linked up well again, and
Mateusz whipped in a cross, and Jake Gilderdale was there to nudge it into the
goal.

Wyke continued to apply pressure. Louis and Matty did well
to stop the Pudsey wingers getting past. Also Joe Mac and Tai Pedder were
confidently defending and clearing the ball which meant Wyke were on the attack
again.

Nathan Khan controlled the game very well today, and picked
up many of the defensive clearances and then it gave Wyke the opportunity to
attack. And with Mateusz and Jake on the wings breaking through, Wyke looked
like scoring even more.

Now Scott Morris had joined the attack, and this meant that
Pudsey had their backs against the wall. Scott made a couple of great passes to
Connor, and he had couple of chances to add to his one goal.

Mateusz Ogrodnik was unlucky not to bag a goal, after
straying offside whilst knocking in a cross from Jake Gilderdale.

Connor was the key man for the third goal, whipping a
beautiful cross in from the left, which Scott Morris nudged in with his head,
he had worked very hard today and fully deserved a goal.

Wyke did let a goal in, which was a little unfair, as the
defence did deserve a clean sheet. Cruelly Matty Dignam’s mis-clearance slipped past Joe Couble, which now
meant it was 3-1, with about 10 minutes
to go.

However Wyke weren’t phased by the goal they let in, and in
fact continued with their strong attacking, and finally Quinn Riley put the
game beyond doubt after rounding the keeper and putting the ball easily into
the goal.

Final score Wyke 4-1 Pudsey Juniors

Goals: Connor Rhodes, Jake Gilderdale, Scott Morris,
Quinn Riley.

Man of the Match: Joe McLoughlin, Joe commanded the
defence very well today, and put in a top class performance. He was quick back
to deal with any balls over the top, and made some great clearances which led
to a couple of Wyke goals.

Man of the Match: Tai Pedder. Tai put in a brilliant
performance today. He worked very well with Joe Mac, and together they
controlled the defence. Tai was strong in tackles and was calm and cool when
getting rid of the ball, he also put in some key headers.

Manager Comments.

Wow...Quality performance today boys. I knew we would win,
but I was very impressed by how well we played. We worked hard throughout. I
think this was a the best team performance we have ever had. We continue to
battle all the way through. It seems that Laser-Tag was a good idea for team
building after all...shame we can’t go every week eh? Well done, we beat a team
today that haven’t lost all season, and who have scored 15 goals in their last
two matches. Both Andy and I are really proud of you all today!! J

Also good luck to Owen Hanson, who played his last game for
WW today. We are gonna miss you! Hope everything works out well and see you
soon!!
