Wyke Goals:

Wyke A lost out to more clinical finishing in an even contest against Batley where the score line flattered the visitors.

Connor was determined in goal, making four good stops in the first half before moving in to defence for the second half and putting in a solid all round display. Owen was very involved, missing a first half penalty and having two other notable shots that were saved by the Batley keeper. Lewis played with good confidence at the back before coming off at half time. Charlie ran hard all over the pitch before coming off at the interval too. Ethan was unlucky not to score before reverting to goalkeeper for the second half and making four decent saves. Lucas was fast and skilful up front, winning the early penalty and having another shot saved. Sam came on at half time and played some good football, setting Nathan up for one chance. Nathan also came on at half time and was very involved; having four attempts on goal but was unable to beat the keeper.

Wyke Wanderers B v Batley Juniors B

Wyke B

Connor Barran
Ethan Downey
Lewis Evans

Owen Khan
Jarad Muff

Score: 1-0 (HT 0-0)

Wyke Goals: Ethan

Wyke B made honours even on the day with a last minute winner from Ethan.

Jarad played well in defence for the whole match, making some timely interceptions and tackles. Matthew showed improved form up front and was unlucky not to score in the first half. Lucas made two good saves in the first half before coming off at half time. Nathan was solid in defence and thwarted the visiting strikers before coming off half way through the second half. Sam linked up well in the start of the first half and the end of the second period. Lewis was at the heart of most moves and did well to set up Matthew for his chance. Charlie was strong up front and had a great run down the wing before his cross / shot eventually drifted harmlessly out of play. Owen came on in the first half and had a good shot saved before going in to goal for the second half where he made one good save as the visitors tired. Connor came on at half time and made some great saving tackles to keep Batley away from goal. Ethan came on at half time also and as the visitors tired, he had two warm up shots saved before firing in the winner in the final minute.
