Summary
Wyke exited the cup but put up a brave effort against a physical and slick Honley team. Cameron made countless saves to keep Wyke in the game as the home team threatened to over-run the defence early on. To Wyke’s credit, they battled to the end and matched Honley 0-0 in the second half. Also, it’s good to remember that Honley beat Wyke 8-1 and 11-1 when they last met two season’s ago – a massive step in the right direction. Lewis and Travis ran their hearts out in defence but were all too often beaten by some good one-twos by Honley. Danny and Connor battled hard in midfield and gave as good as they got. Charlie and Owen were closely marked and found it hard to get in to the game but showed great team spirit by tracking back. Jack and Nathan added fresh legs as Wyke tired on a big pitch.
