Match Report- 11/10/2009 v Wakefield (Home)
Wyke Wanderers were defeated again today which is now their third straight defeat in
the league. The score of 9-3 would suggest a heavy defeat, in which they were
outplayed, however it doesn’t tell the full story.
Wyke didn’t settle well into the game, and found themselves 2-0 down after 5 minutes.
However the game turned in Wyke’s favour. Scott Morris and Connor Rhodes were making some
great play down the left wing, and Wyke were unlucky not to get back into the
game. Wyke continued to attack and Connor Rhodes was rewarded with a goal, now
Wyke were back in the game.
Scott Morris was working so hard down the left wing, and he eventually scored a well
placed shot, which the keeper had no chance of saving. Wyke were now flying.
Wyke let in another goal just before half time, but Wyke could have been the team leading
at half-time after they found the net but it was disallowed.
Half Time-
3-2 to Wakefield.
The second half started badly with Wyke going 4-2 down. Joe McLoughlin came off injured
which really unsettled the defence. From that point on, Wyke took a real knock in
confidence. Unbelievably, Wyke kept letting goals in, and there was very little
attacking happening. The Wakefield team worked hard and played some good
football, but the Wyke lads had pretty much given up, and there was really no
way back into the game. Jack Lamch came
on and had a couple of attempts and scored, but by this time it was way too
late for Wyke to get back into the game.
Goals:
Connor Rhodes, Scott Morris, Jack Lamch
Man of the
Match: Tai Pedder: Tai had a tough job today, he worked really hard, and had 5
different defensive partners throughout the match.
Man of the Match: Scott Morris didn’t stop running all the way through the match. He kept
going, and kept trying to motivate his team-mates. He made some great attacking
play down the left wing as well.

Boys....We need to be more confident and believe we can win. We should have won today, and
we didn’t because we gave up!! I’m not saying
we weren’t trying.. We just need to try and be more confident, and when you are
more confident, you will play much better.
