Dalton Dynamoes ' A' 4 v 3 Wyke Wanderers 'A'

At last, the start of the new points scoring, league positioning season kicks off finally for Wyke Wanders under 9’s A team. This was a trip to Huddersfield to play the Dalton Dynamo's U9 A team. In need of a few white lines and with an altitude as high as Hemley Moore's TV Mast, Wanders had another sloping pitch to tackle.
Wyke got off to the better start with Atta causing problems from the first wistle. It took just two minutes for Wanderer’s to to take the lead.A great pass from Sam under pressure on the left, paced a ball across the Dalton goal for Atta to neatly side foot the ball into the back of the net leaving the Dynamo’s keeper static.
It was noted on a couple of occasions that the Captain, Edward, stood along side Pat both doing a great job at the back proving a really good partnership and a strong defence. Atta kept up the pressure on Dalton his ball supply coming from Sam down the Left and the ever busy Ryan Clay cleaning up around the midfield.Ryans work effort payed off on nineteen minutes when, as usual, he won the ball and drove a rifled shot into the top of the net giving Dynamo’s man in Yellow no chance of a save. Although Dalton started to show a few glimpses of skill the first half belonged to Wyke 2-0 half time.
Second half underway and Dalton came out a changed team. Two well taken early goals meant that Wyke no longer looked comfortable in fact the pressure was relentless for the first 8 minutes of the second half, Wyke had to just ride the storm. Another charge from the Dynamo's meant a scramble in the Wyke goal mouth resulting in an unlucky deflection off Brad trying his best to clear his lines,3-2
to the home side. Brad stayed strong all game and with 3 minutes remaining ran from his defence with the ball and hit a ferocious shot from the half way line which looped over Daltons keeper to take the score to 3-3.The game was now anyone’s and both sides were desperate for the 3 points and a table position. Dillon kept Wyke in the game with a great save only to be called into action again seconds after this time with an even better one, bringing a round of applause from the Mums and Dads watching. Seconds were all that was left on the referees watch when sucker punch finally came,Dalton stealing all three points. Wanders looked unusually ragged at the back the marking and concentration withered saw a last effort from the home team with ball to the back post and the game was over. After the match the Manager talked to all the team about Marking and Concentration finishing with a big well done to Atta voted man of the match by the Dalton’s management team.

Goals-

Dalton Dynnamoes 'A+B' 2 v 0 Wyke Wanderes 'B'

Traveling again for the second week of the new season Wyke Wanders Under 9 B team headed to Huddersfield to meet the Dalton Dynamo’s.
Wyke full of confidence following on from a 3 point victory in Elland last Sunday the team captained by Kyan looked well up for the challenge. The manager looked to play a familiar formation with Ibby starting up front, a packed Midfield, Tom and Jack at the back and Ben Sutcliffe between the sticks.

Wyke started very well with Ibby missing a couple of shots on target early on but soon started to find his range bringing out good saves from the Dalton keeper who managed to keep the score at 0-0.The game seemed to be end to end with neither team managing to break the deadlock. Strong performances from Tom who despite his size never stopped tackling and who always seemed to be given the role of marking Dalton’s six foot frontman, or that’s how it must have seemed to Tom.
Kyan was worthy of the Captains armband pushing his team on with strong runs through the middle of the park, sometimes overlapping with Nathan who also ran his socks off.

With Half time approaching the scoreline was still 0-0 all the action of the first half had taken place around the middle of the pitch this was all to change come the second half.
The breather came and went; Wyke came out for the second half with some new instructions from the Manager. Five minutes into the half ,Neil made a few changes to the team. This seemed to bring a little confusion and took a little while for the players to settle and get into position. The Dynamo’s sensed the confusion and started to press their game on the Wanderers it wasn’t long before the Home team took their chance, a quick ball in caught Wyke a little static leaving one of their players unmarked in the box. Ben was beaten to his left 1-0 Dalton.

The Wyke keeper played his part. This duly earned him Man Of The match with some superb saves trying to keep his team in the running. Save after save he must have thought the shots wouldn’t stop. Tipping onto the crossbar blocking at close range and like Dillon in the first game he also managed to get the Mums and Dads to clap, recognizing his acrobatics.

Well the game went on the shots didn’t stop. Dalton made a few Substitutions bringing on a couple of their A team players to add more strength going forward this seemed to be working.Wyke did everything they could to feed Dillon who was playing a lone role up front but in the end Daltons extra strength proved too much and a second goal came from a tap in at the far post beating Ben to his left 2-0 to the team from Huddersfield.

The final whistle came Wyke had given it everything for the cause and came off shattered. Neil sat the team down and talked about the performance reminding the team that Communication and talking as a team was what was needed moving forward.
3 Points dropped but another proud showing from Wanderers. Onwards and upwards.
Well done to Ben Sutcliffe voted Man Of the Match by the Dynamo’s management team.

Big well done to all the boys this week Smile
