Wyke v
Howden Clough B

Wyke
finished off their pre-season matches with a fantastic win against Howden
Clough. Wyke start their league campaign on Sunday, and their brilliant win
will give them a well needed confidence boost,

Wyke were
in the driving seat from the start of the game,
Connor opened the scoring after only a minute or so. Wyke continued to
be strong in attack, with Scott, Jack, Connor and Nathan linking up very well,
and producing so brilliant football. Wyke were rewarded again when Jack scored
to make it 2-0, his 3rd goal in 2 games. Scott Morris had a couple
of chances to score but it didn’t seem like his shooting was on fire. However
he broke through the Howden defence and placed the ball into the bottom corner
to make it 3-0.

Wyke continued
to be solid at the back, Tai Pedder was leading the defence, and Howden could
barely get into the Wyke half. Scott Morris broke through again and scored his
second goal, another well placed shot, and he and the rest of the team were
brimming with confidence as the team led 4-0.

Connor
Rhodes then blasted the ball past the keeper to make it 5-0. Connor was
excellent down the left hand side, and kept cutting in and he supplied several
good crosses which were well dealt with by the Howden Clough defence.

Then came a
special moment for Scott Morris as he slotted home a goal to earn his first
hatrick for the club. He really deserved it, after playing superbly, and making
his own chances.

Half Time-
6-0 Wyke

Wyke
started the second half a little shakily, with Howden Clough coming out and
attacking more. Wyke were caught unawares, and Howden pulled a goal back. 6-1

The team
were a little too attacking, and fell asleep at the back, which allowed Howden
Clough to pull another goal back. 6-2

However it
didn’t last, and Wyke regained their dominance. The Howden keeper spilled the
ball and Connor Rhodes was there to slot it away. He also earned himself a
hatrick, but just as importantly he was the key attacking man and created many
more opportunities for his team mates to score. 7-2

Quinn Riley
then got in on the action, scoring his first goal of the game to make it 8-2,
and Wyke were playing some really good football.

Howden then
scored a penalty, Owen Hanson took down a Howden player in the box, and the
Howden Clough striker scored a great goal which Joe Mac in goals had no chance
of saving.

With a
minute to go, Nathan Khan finished off the scoring with a lofted header which
lobbed the keeper. Nathan had had a great game today and deserved to get his
name on the score sheet.

Goals:
Scott Morris x3, Connor Rhodes x3, Jack Lamch, Quinn Riley, Nathan Khan.

Man of the
Match: Scott Morris, Scott played some great football, and made some great runs
forward, in fact he created all three of his own goals. It was a brilliant
all-round performance from him.

Fantastic
result today boys!! We attacked brilliantly, and played some lovely football.
Our passing was very good, considering the grass was very long. We were
rewarded with a very big win. Hopefully we will have a bit of confidence now,
and this will help us on Sunday.
