Wyke knew they had to turn around their recent poor run of
form if they had any chance of challenging for the title after two successive
defeats. Pudsey came into the game on the end of three straight defeats.

Wyke ran out easy winners, putting in a fantastic team
performance to record their biggest ever win, 9-0.

A great start from the Wanderers saw them come very close to
an early lead, both Connor Rhodes and Mikey Brooksbank had shots go wide.

A goal was inevitable with Wyke totally dominating the game,
and it took only eight minutes for them to take the lead. Tai Pedder floated in a brilliant free kick,
which wasn’t dealt with by the Pudsey defence, it fell to Nathan Khan who
instinctively shot with his left foot into the corner, and well past the keepers
reach. Wyke 1-0, the first time in a few games that Wyke had taken the lead.

Wyke were totally dominant in the middle, Nathan Khan did a
great job to get stuck into the Pudsey midfield and dispossess them. He also
linked up very well with Mudiwa, who played some clever through balls, after 11
minutes it was his through ball that found Mikey Brooksbank. Mikey showed great
strength to beat the last defender and fire it home, Wyke now had a 2 goal
lead.

It took them only two more minutes to score again, this time
it was Scott Morris, who chipped the keeper, putting the ball into the roof of
the net from 18 yards. A great goal which gave Wyke a three goal lead.

Abel Mariwandi came very close to scoring twice, and Connor
Rhodes had a lot of chances, but couldn’t find his shooting form to extend Wyke’s
lead.

Nathan and Mudiwa continued to be outstanding in the middle,
and Scott Morris was using his pace to give Pudsey a real hard time, he had a
couple of shots well saved.

Damien Hields and Joe McLoughlin were top class at the back,
and Pudsey barely had a chance at goal,
and Calvin Barker was more than equal to any shots that came his way.

Michael Brooksbank was involved in Wyke’s next goal, taking
it past three defenders and firing it at the keeper, after 32 minutes. The
Keeper let it slip under his arms, and Connor Rhodes leapt on the opportunity
to poach a tap in, making sure it found the back of the net. A well needed goal
from Wyke’s top scorer who had struggled to find his scoring form in the last
couple of matches.

Buoyed by his return to goalscoring, Connor scored another
one a minute later, Mikey Brooksbank
swung in a corner, and Nathan Khan rose like a salmon to fire a header towards
the goal, somehow the keeper managed to claw it back out, and Connor was there
with an easy tap in from close range.

Scott Morris had another couple of shots saved, and Wyke could
really have had 10 goals in the first half. Mikey Brooksbank was denied by the
post after hitting a great shot from distance.

Half Time- Wyke 5-0 Pudsey.

Pudsey were very lively during the first 10 minutes of the
second half, and had a couple of chances, but nothing to cause Calvin Barker
any problems. Damien and Joe Mc were on fine form, and Pudsey didn’t really
look like scoring.

After 15 minutes, Wyke extended their lead even further,
Mikey played through Connor Rhodes who shot down the right and played a great square
pass to Scott who was totally unmarked and had the easy task of tapping the
ball in for his second and Wyke’s sixth of the game.

Wyke continued to bombard the Pudsey box, and another goal
wasn’t far off. Mikey Brooksbank was outstanding all over the pitch, and his
tackle on the edge of the Pudsey 18 yard box, gave Wyke another goal, he passed
back to Connor, who blasted the ball from 25 yards, it flew into the roof of
the net, a well-deserved hatrick for Connor Rhodes. Wyke now led 7-0.

Only a minute later, Wyke had an eighth, this time it was a
headed backpass which was missed by the keeper and it cruelly found the back of
the net.

With 15 minutes to go, Wyke got their ninth goal. Nathan
Khan played a great throughball through to Scott Morris, Scott raced into
towards the keeper and cleverly placed the ball towards the far corner and into
the back of the net, giving him a brilliant hatrick, after a top performance.

Wyke didn’t score in the last 15 minutes, however there were
a lot of chances for them to hit double figures. Wyke were desperate for a
clean sheet, and Pudsey had a couple of chances to score, but the back four
remained strong. Tai Pedder had had a very strong game as well as Toby, Louis
and top quality performances from the centre defenders Damo and Joe.

Full time: Wyke 9-0 Pudsey

Goals

Nathan Khan (Cool, Michael Brooksbank (11), Scott Morris (13, 50, 55), Connor Rhodes (32,
33, 52), Own Goal (53).

Man of the Match

Mudiwa Tegama- Tigz was excellent today. His
distribution was top class. He played some great forward ball. He is a clever
player rarely panicking on the ball, and he is a very good playmaker. He got
stuck in as well today and it was great to see him playing well, he came close
to scoring a couple of times as well.

Damien Hields- Damo once again was outstanding at the
back. He won every ball in the air, and was far too good for the Pudsey attack,
he organises the defence so well and didn’t put a foot wrong all game. A
quality game for the newby-defender who just keeps getting better and better.

Dave’s Comments

I couldn’t be happier after today’s performance, we were
superb!!!! Every player was brilliant today, we didn’t put a foot wrong and we
have just recorded our biggest win ever… After a difficult couple of games I am
pleased to see we have put them behind us as responded by battering a decent
team. This is sending out a warning to all the other teams in the league that
we are still going strong, and we are going to win the league!! Keep it up
boys.. Great stuff today!
